Scottish Blackface Sheep, Cairngorms
This is a very special photograph for me. It was selected for the Guild of Photographers Image of the Year final, finishing in the top 10 from around 17,000 images, and also won me a Silver Bar Award.
I took it while driving my Land Rover over a mountain in the Cairngorms. This little gang of Scottish Blackface sheep started following me and chased me for miles, absolutely convinced I was going to feed them.
I spoke to the gamekeeper afterwards and discovered that his Land Rover had the same engine as mine. The sheep had obviously heard me coming and thought lunch had arrived!
Eventually they all lined up looking straight at me, with that wonderful dark sky behind them, and I got the shot.
It’s still one of those photographs that makes me smile because I know exactly what was happening on the other side of the camera.
