Taken at the end of April while travelling through France with my friend, this was one of those scenes we simply stumbled across.
We were spending a few weeks exploring the country in our Land Rovers, following off-road tracks whenever we could. One of those tracks suddenly opened out onto this wonderful view across the Champagne-Ardenne countryside – vivid yellow fields, fresh spring greens and four perfectly spaced trees sitting on the horizon beneath a huge blue sky.
It’s a little different from the landscapes I’m normally drawn to, but I loved the simplicity and uniformity of those four trees, and the track winding its way through the fields. Sometimes the simplest landscapes just work.
