I’d seen this owl 5 times and I kept going back to the same spot over and over to see if I could capture it. I was actually hunting for a cuckoo when I saw him sat there watching me.

Tawny owls are far more often heard than seen, especially in daylight, so finding this one sitting quietly amongst the trees was a real treat. It remained perfectly still for several minutes, watching everything that was going on around it before slipping deeper into the woodland.

Taken in natural light, the soft greens and moss-covered branches help frame the owl and show it in its woodland home. A beautiful addition for bird lovers and anyone who enjoys British wildlife.
