“Capturing Highland Magic: Paula Beaumont’s Adventures in Glencoe, Glen Etive and around the north of Scotland”
1st March 2024
Join me on my wonderful journey through the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands. In this blog post, I’ll share the highlights of my recent escapade, weaving tales of encounters with stags and mountain hares, the breathtaking landscapes of Glencoe and Glen Etive, and the tranquil trails of Torridon.
Glencoe is one of my favourite places to take photos. No matter how many times I go there’s always different light. There are jagged peaks and sweeping valleys that paint a picture of untamed beauty. The light was low and moody whilst I was here which lends itself to high contrast black and white images

Nature Wall Art Inspired by Glencoe
You can transform your living spaces with our nature wall art, pay homage to the wonderful landscapes found in Glencoe. Each image tells a tale of the Highlands.
I was so lucky with the weather on my last day here. I was treated to blue skies, snow and no wind, perfect for the drone.

Glen Etive: Chilled to the Bone, Warm at Heart
In the heart of Glen Etive, I braved the bone-chilling cold, camping amidst the serene beauty of this hidden gem. The frosty air added an element of adventure to the photographic pursuit, capturing the magic of a Highland winter. The Buachaille Etive Mòr is the main drag for me down this wonderful road. I have photographed it many times but I’m still drawn back time and time again to photograph it in different light and seasons.

The elegance of Highland stags in winter blows my mind! They roam low down in winter to eat the grass that’s frozen in the higher peaks. I loved the light in this image, you can find the Scottish Stag prints in the animal gallery

From Glencoe I headed over to the Cairgorms national park. I love it over there and I had just one thing on my mind! The elusive mountain hare. I have always wanted to photograph the hares but struggled to find them. I decided to book a mountain guide to show me how to find them and learn some field craft. I’m not going to sugar coat it this was a tough day! It was steep, windy, bitterly cold and I saw two hares in 6 hours! I also couldn’t feel my toes lol BUT I managed to get some great shots of the hares and I would do it all again tomorrow! You can find the hare images in the animal gallery

Torridon: Strolling Through Torridon’s Tranquility
I headed a little further up north as I wanted to do some hiking in Torridon. Gosh I was so lucky with the weather again. Torridon is a tranquil landscape of craggy peaks and reflective lochs. As I ventured along one of its trails, I was inspired to create extra-large landscape wall art that encapsulates the majesty of this serene Highland escape.
