Ribblehead Viaduct, Yorkshire Dales
A beautiful winter morning at one of Yorkshire’s most iconic landmarks.
I’d camped at Ribblehead the night before so I could be up for sunrise, and it turned out to be one of the coldest nights I’ve ever spent there. By morning it was minus 11 and the whole landscape was covered in frost.
As the sun started to come up, I sent the drone up over the viaduct. The combination of the heavy frost, the early morning light and the soft colours across Ingleborough gave the whole scene this lovely gentle, almost pastel feel. It was absolutely freezing, but completely worth it.
I love the panoramic format for this photograph because it shows Ribblehead as part of that huge, open Yorkshire Dales landscape, rather than just concentrating on the viaduct itself.
